tapered wire coils use only the highest grade bar peeled high stress
X5K steel in all our tapered wire range.
CalOffroad platinum series
coils can give maximum long travel and can also increase up travel
where other coils will bottom out and cause strut damage.

CalOffroad Leaf Springs.
It is important to remember that a spring supports weight and sets the vehicle ride height.
It determines the optimum limits of the suspension
travel and is a major contributor to the vehicles ride and handling.
But a spring cannot operate effectively without a correctly matched shock absorber.
Design characteristics:
*All leaf lengths are designed and calculated to achieve a high performance spring, inappropriate leaf lengths will concentrate stress
in one particular area and will cause premature sagging or breaking.
*Military Wrapper - where possible a military wrapper is used as a safety mechanism to aid
the vehicles steering in the case of the main leaf breaking.
*Drawn tapered and diamond cut leaves to assist in load distribution and reduce interleaf friction which occurs at the end of the leaves
*Scragg testing - the springs are scragged to 90% of the yield stress of the material used to help eliminate sagging. Scragging is a process whereby the spring is
load tested to be straight or reversed curvature to relieve and preventing sag.
*Inter leaf anti friction liners reduce friction at the tip of the leaves where the load is the greatest in the spring
*Quality control - stringent quality control procedures for heat treatment (tempering) process ensures CalOffroad springs are made the same exceptional way every time

How the Spring is Built
Firstly, only top quality Silicon Alloy Spring Steel known as Silicon Manganese or Medium to High Carbon Spring Steel known as Carbon Chromium are used.
These steels are only selected from reputable steel mills.
First the leaves of the springs are cut to length and processed.
On the main leaf the "eyes" are forged.
The processed leaves are heated to a temperature of 900°C in a clean climate Precision Electric Furnace.
These leaves are then put through a Cambering Press to obtain the desired shape.
These leaves are then reheated to exactly 850°C, where they are taken from the furnace by a Computer Controlled Furnace Trolley
Conveyer and quenched in oil to make the leaves fully hardened.
After this process the leaves are fed through a precision Electric Heated Tempering Furnace where the strength is put into the spring.
When the leaves come out of the furnace on the conveyor, they are hand fitted. Putting the leaves together is a delicate operation because
the amount of friction created could lead to erosion of the leaf face.
CalOffroad Springs have designed the leaves to reduce the friction.
The gap between the leaves is also uniform, ensuring efficiency.
After this stage, the spring is cooled and assembled. Clips are fitted, bushes
where required are pressed into the "eyes" and reamed, painting is done
with Electrostatic Spray Gun with rust preventing black paint.
Quality control is implemented in every stage of manufacture.
Pre-inspection of raw material and purchased goods, assembly line
inspection to final inspection.
